Growing
up in the 80's (laugh while you can, sing while
you may!) really helped in the process. I watched
so many friends struggle to get gigs, even if
they were absolutey kick ass. But I was in
Nowhere, California and getting out alive was
your biggest feat, let alone ride the band wagon
out to success. Many bands formed, and twice as
many failed. Perhaps this was lack of promotion,
or even lack of drive. I found that offering the
slightest bit of help really instilled motivation
in true artists.
Now even further back in time; I lived in the
middle of the desert, not like in the movies, but
it was the Mojave Desert, case in point:
There were bands playing out in the valley, where
the only way you could get there was by knowing
how to read a stinkin' compass! OK, not really,
but Nowhere IS NOWHERE! And bands played there
all the time. There was a band that actually made
it and I still have those fliers today. That band
was The
Offspring. No, they weren't from
the Mojave Desert, but they knew no limits to
getting their stuff heard by EVERYONE, even the
desert rats!
Thus, my self driven, no-finance promotions
"business" was created. I do this free
of charge for artists who are devoted to what
they love, from musicians to film makers. All
that I ask in return is for those who I represent
to do their part and be true to themselves. It
doesn't seem like much, really, but it is invaluable.
